The after Christmas buzz has worn off

Well all the kids presents are laid on the floor. The knickknacks are broken and I stepped on a toy but soon they will be back at school and oh my joy. The Christmas season is behind us now and life will return to normal soon after the new year but for now I give you a glimpse into the mind of Nathan. Nathan and I went to church this morning and he did well for the first half of church but soon after his snack was eaten and the sugar buzz wore off he turned on me. At first he said he wanted to go home and that was normal but then he gave it a twist and said he was going to walk home so I said go ahead and he proceeded to put his hat, gloves, and coat on and he took about 4 steps and kept saying he was going to go. After he gave up on trekking in the cold he started in after the priest and said when is he going to be done talking. He keeps talking and talking and talking. After a few minutes of whining he said the best thing yet. He said he was leaving and told me to have fun with your church. That made me smirk as he is so funny and yet such a pain. Gotta love him.

6 Years of life goes by so quickly

This last weekend we had Tyler 6th birthday party at the local bowling alley. He invited a neighbor, his brother, a cousin, and a friend from school. One kid from all the required friend groups I think. We had a blast bowling and nobody was injured which was good when you have 5 kids running around with heavy objects to drop. My toes made it through. Tyler actually bowled really well. This is the second time he went bowling and loved it. He bowled a 77 the first game and even had a spare, mind you it was bumper bowling but still enjoyable. We also went to my brother-in-law Terry concert later that night and it was really exciting and well performed. I volunteered to help and got put on CD sales and I sold 2 CD's so I am helping the cause (the Paukert Fund), I also helped rock the littlest Beaudry (Oliver). He especially liked the Answer the call song as he kicked in wiggled around during the entire song. It was a blast.

Growing up

Why does it feel like kids grow up so fast? One day you are trying to get them to talk and the next day they are talking like adults. I was in El Bano yesterday and told Tyler and Nate to watch Carson ( I know asking a 6 and 4 year old to watch a 1 YO is not the brightest) and make sure he didn't fall off the couch. Carson is now able to climb up on the couch by himself but not careful enough while walking on the couch. As I was relieving myself Tyler was coaxing Carson upstairs so that he could draw while Carson played. As I am washing up I hear Nate yell that Carson is on the couch and Tyler yells back "I was just watching him up here how did he get down there so fast." Then he says "Aye yigh yigh" It is just so funny to hear the things kids will say. It is also kind of sad as this just proves to me that they are getting older.

Tyler likes to draw no which is really cool. He brings home a book from school every week and he usually picks out really interesting books. Last week be brought home a how to draw book where it splits out the drawing of say a cat into several steps. He is getting really good at following the steps and it is nice to see him having fun at it.

Kids say the funniest things

Last night I was laying on the couch and the kids were in a frenzy and Nate came up to me and put his head on my stomach and bite me and I screamed and said "why would you do something like that". His reply saved him from some serious consequences. He said "I thought you were candy". Which made me laugh and have to squeeze him for his punishment. That kid can be so darn funny and it saves him a lot of times.

We also carved our huge pumpkin that we had bought last week. This thing weighed 37 pounds and was probably a good 2 inches think which made the carving difficult. The kids helped scrap out the gunk and I had them separate the seeds so that I could bake them. I will take a pic and show my great carving skills.

Two down and one to go

Let me recount the weekend of fun for us. Started with Tyler getting his stitches out on Friday and that went as well as could be expected. Saturday was a great day as the kids went to my parents house for the night as Dana and I had a wedding to go to. Oh the joys of sleeping in. Just to think that only 5 years ago I could sleep in until 10 or so and now sleeping in means 7 or 8. At what age do kids start getting there own breakfast. I am tempted at times just to leave the cereal on the counter and advises the boys to do whatever they want as long as they leave daddy alone. Now I am rambling and must be stopped. OK the point of this whole thing is that Sunday came around and was another gloomy day outside so it was spent mostly indoors. Once little Carson woke up from his nap he was playing around upstairs while mommy was getting ready for church that night. As daddy was watching him from the bottom of the steps he decided to grab onto the statue, that sits on top of a pedestal, and sit down. Well that was not a good idea as it fell and conked him on the head. I ran up the stairs to try and stop it from falling but was there too late and of course it cut his head open and started to bleed. So within 2 weeks time we have had one kid with 3 stitches in his head and another with a staple in his head. I feel like we will be getting a call from social services soon. It is not a good time to be a kid in our house. I am about ready to wrap Nate in bubble wrap as it does not look good for his chances of escaping this dreaded black cloud of injuries that seams to be lingering over our house. Wish us all luck to get through this month.

First day of School

I was a little worried about how the first day of school would go for the boys as they both said they didn't want to go but the troopers they are had no complaints and were excited to go back. Nathan advised me that they read a Owl book and had a snack. Snacks are a good thing. Tyler also had a good and bad day as he said school was fun but got a little to excited and hit his head on the kitchen counter and split his head open. It required a trip to the doctor for some stitches. He was a trooper and got through it with flying colors. Good thing is that it is covered up by his hair so won't be noticeable.

I have been a bad bad blogger

To think the last ime I updated the blog was almost a moth ago. That is bad as you have not been able to hear all the new and exciting things that are going on in the Weber family. Although there are not many things that are going on. The St. Michael Daze & Knights festival was just last weekend adn I have been helping plan the teen events and all I can say is it was a long fun filled weekend. I think the festival went really well and I don't think I sat down at all on Friday and Saturday. The kids had fun at the carnival and getting all the candy from the parade. My quest for the rest of the summer is to get the landscaping completed. I started a grand plan of putting in some brick tree rings and have one done and one in the begining stages with 2 more to go. I will try to gets some pics of the process so you can see the pain that I am feeling.

The Dog Days of Summer

Yesterday Dana was telling me a story about our neighbors dog Shelby and how she barks all the time. The funny thing about this is how Nathan tells Shelby to be quiet. Nathan will say " Shelby stop ruffing" "Mommy Shelby keeps ruffing". I thought that was so funny and so cute. It makes you just want to squeeze him. Why are the kids that are always the problem child also the the kids that can melt your heart with a look or a saying. One other thing to note is that Tyler is starting to sound way to old when he talks. Talking about the rules for the cabin and how when I tell him to do something he says "Daddy that is so ridiculous". He doesn't even know what ridiculous means and I even had to spell check it to make sure I spelt it correctly. The darn kid is growing up way to fast. Last but not least I want the relatives to take a look at Carson the next time they see him and look for his Chris Farley face. When he smiles with those teeth he reminds me of Chris Farley. It is way too funny.

Tyler's Cabin Rules

I have been reminding the kids what is going to be going on at the cabin and what I expect of them.
And tonight during dinner Tyler started with the rules for the cabin and some of them I didn't even get a chance to mention yet! Here they are. Word for Word
Rule #1 Stay out of peoples way in the kitchen.
Rule #2 Keep quiet when people are sleeping
Rule #3 Have an adult go with you to the candy store
Rule #4 Don't swim without a lifejacket.
Rule #5 No playing with your food.
Rule #6 Don't go outside without an adult.
Rule #7 Carson do not throw your food.
Rule #8 Wear your sunscreen so you don't burned.
Rule #9 No Fighting (Nate said this)
Rule #10 I am not eating pancakes.
He had other rules, but he was getting tired
That is all for now good bye.

GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL

Well remember a week or 2 ago I was blogging about sports aspirations for Tyler and yesterday they rang true. Tyler scored 4 goals in soccer last night and I missed it because I had softball. I would have rather been at the soccer game to witness Tyler's soccer transformation. I could not beleive that the kid who was crying and didn't want to go on the field at the first practice is now scoring goals at will. I came home from softball and the first thing the kids tell me about was that Grandma Charlotte took them to McDonalds for treats after the game and then Tyler says with a big smile that he scored four goals. I now realize this may be my last year of softball as next year Nathan and Tyler will be playing sports in the summer and I may be too busy.

The Holiday Weekend

I hope everyone had a fun time this past weekend. It was not long enough especially with the good weather we had. We had Dana's birthday on the 3rd and I took her to the MN zoo to meet some of her relatives (. The boys had a great time as they learned new and interesting things. As we were walking by the Tiger exhibit they had some interesting facts on some plaques. One plaque had a model of the Tiger Scat (poo) and Tyler asked what that was and I told him it was "Tiger Scat or Tiger Poop". He thought it was funny and after searching for the lazy Tigers we walked on to see the Talkin's (like Buffalo's but uglier) and as we got close he plugs his nose and says "Disgusting it smells like Scat". Dana and I and my parents had a good laugh at that. One note about the zoo is that these animals are too lazy (Bears Sleeping, Tigers Sleeping, Leopards too scared to come out and play).

Sports aspirations

I was talking with Dana the other night and she was talking how Carson can throw this football really well. Dana said he crawls over to it and picks it right up with his little hand and throws it like he knows what he is doing. He has always loved chasing toy balls around and does have a good arm for a one year old. He is also built like a brick house (wide load) so maybe he will have the body to be a football player. Tyler is finely liking his soccer excursion which is a relief. I was sick of the whining about how he wanted to quit. I just wonder though if his love for soccer has any coincidence to the handing out of treats after the game/practice. Hmmm I wonder.

First Soccer Game

Yesterday Tyler had his first soccer game and it went pretty well compared to the practices he has had. There was no crying and he almost scored a goal but missed the wide open net. That must come from the Beaudry side. It is pretty funny to watch 5 year old play soccer as they can be distracted by anything except the actual game of soccer. I watched Tyler stand in look at his hands, jump around in the air and make muscle man poses as the ball would go whizzing by. He got better as the game went on but there is one kid on his team who I think should be playing pro if there was a pro league for 5 yr olds. He was making saves everywhere and scoring goals. That would be more fun to watch then actual pro soccer. I can hear the announcing now "Little Johnny runs down the sideline with the ball and is tripped up by another player". "Oh no little Johnny is hurt he is really hurt". The Camera focuses on Johnny and zooms in on his leg and you see a little tiny scratch as he is laying on the ground crying for 5-10 minutes. "The announcer says here comes the medic/mommy to save the day" and you hear in the background the Coach/Dad yelling walk it off or or shake it off and rub some dirt on it. Of course Tyler favorite part of soccer is snack time after the game. He even shared with Nathan and I am glad he did as I know there would have been a fight over the chocolate covered rice cake thingies.

Weekend Fun - but tired

Hello to everyone. Just wanted to give a rundown of our lovely weekend.

Friday night started off innocently enough with dinner and getting the kids to sleep and then my brother-in-law Jon calls. He tells me he wants to hide the unsightly cable cords that ring his house by drilling a whole in the house and running it through the basement to his office. After 30-45 min to figure out the logistics we start by drilling a whole from the basement and then run into the first issue of insulation and can't find the cable. Give up after thinking for awhile and figuring not going to finish tonight. Then comes the fire in the fire pit that we are having on the driveway. Me and the wife along with Angel and her friend Anna get the fire going and sit and relax drinking and having a good ole time. Then the neighbor comes over to advise us he is going to start the grill up and grill some Italian Sausage mind you it is 11PM at this juncture in the night. After thinking for a while why you would do this he advises us that it was ready and Dana and I get up to go enjoy. The neighbors had some friends over as they were setting up for their sons grad party. I walk into the garage and see 3 bottles of wine empty as well as some drinks on the table. Think to myself this should be fun. We eat and talk with the neighbors and there friends for awhile as they slur through stories of how kids grow up fast as they are in their 50's and reminiscing. Then Mark (neighbor) asks why Angel and her friend didn't come over and Dana says "Angel gets diarrhea easy from greasy food" and I say that is just what they wanted to know. Dana has only had 3 drinks and I think is she drunk already and can't comprehend what to say and What NOT to say to the neighbors but this is DANA. The food was good and we chatted a little longer then went back to the fire to chill. By the time we finished it was 1AM and time for bed.

Saturday:
After being up late I wanted to sleep in but the kids had other ideas. Carson and Nate were up by 7 wanting to play so after a nudge from Dana I took them both downstairs to watch cartoons. As I lay on the couch and Carson tries to pull my hair out I wonder why I stay up so late. Breakfast comes and Dana is now awake and I tell her I am going to go back to bed and sleep until 10 or 11 and I have the craziest dream of a plane getting hit by lightning and crashing in Rogers and then going out the door to see it and the garage being gone as if hit by a twister. Very weird as I was in my dream saying this has got to be a dream but it felt so real. After reviving myself from the craziness the kids and I play until we go to the neighbors grad party and eat and play until it is time to get the babysitter as we Dana and I are going to the Twins game with one of her college friends. I thought the Twins game would be fun and it was as we won but then I added up the Damage. $5 parking, $42 tickets, $6 Soda, $6 pizza, $7 nachos, and $20 babysitter. $86 Twins game and having fun with friends priceless but not really. I think how many groceries I could have bought. On the way home from the game I get a call from a friend Dave who says I should meet him at this bar in Monticello as there is someone I should see. I guessed who it was (Adam) and then talk Dana into letting me go as she stays with home with the kids. I meet them and we reminisce about High School and College as I haven't seen Adam in about 3 or 4 years. I got home at about 1AM and wonder why I stay out this late knowing my kids will be up by 7 again.

Sunday:

Pretty uneventful. Went to Home Depot with the Tyler and Nate to get supplies to finish the backyard garden I wanted to get the kids involved and maybe eat veggies they grow. Brought all the supplies home and finished putting the soil in the box I built and realized I need more dirt. Damn it. Just when you think it will be done it never is. Didn't have time to go back to the store as we were going to the Grandma Sue and Grandpa Don's for Dinner. Just to let everyone know Tyler and Nate are now big into trying to work for money so they can save for candy at the cabin. Tyler earned 4 quarters for cleaning up the basement and making his bed and he did an excellent job. They both earned a dollar for helping do something for Grandma or Grandpa. We may have to rethink the amounts as at this rate I may be borrowing money from them. After a fun time at the Grand Parents we head home for bath time and bed time. The kids are snuggled in their beds and Dana is resting and I think great time for a shower and bed but then I think I need to exercise the demons from my fat so I decide I will go for a bike ride. I get all ready and decide to ask Jon (brother-in-law) if he would like to go with but says that he is going to go for a walk as his friend Dan is coming over with some Banana Bread that he baked (Very Gay). These two should just stop fighting it and get together as that last sentence sounded so gay. I decide to go with and after a marathon walk I get back at about 11:30 and get to bed about Midnight again questioning my choices of staying up way too late.

I think I have just typed this while sleeping at my desk.

Peace Out.

Starting to Blog - Life is Tough

Hello peeps. This is the first attempt to Blog about our life. It is kind of late so I am going to make this first entry short and sweet just like my wife. Today I had the great pleasure to bring my son Tyler to soccer practice. I had heard of his early escapade of crying and wanting to quit. I had hoped since Daddy was taking him today that would be different but I was wrong. He started out OK (except for the shyness) but that lasted until the first break for water when he came over with that teary eyed look and said Daddy can we just go. I wanted to squeeze him he was so cute but I gave it the old fatherly advice of buck up and get back out there. Now now I did not use that exact wording as I was more tactful but it worked and he seemed to kind of get better as time went on. Well that is it for now as I am tired and need to get to sleep.
